Total Zambia unveils range of innovative solar products
LUSAKA, February 26, ZANIS — Total Zambia has unveiled a wide range of innovative consumer-orientated portable solar products called Awango on the Zambian market.
Total Zambia Communications Expert Hope Chola says the launch of, Awango by Total product range, comprise portable lighting products each complete with its own mini self-sustaining solar panel.
Ms Chola said the solar lighting solutions provide a cost-effective, sustainable and safe way to balance the energy mix in the home.
ZANIS reports that the international Firm‘s Communications Expert said this in a statement released in Lusaka, today.
She said the Awango products are being offered on a two year warranty and the portable products provide superior light intensity and are also safer than candles and paraffin.
The cell-phone charging capability included with certain product range is particularly useful to those living off the grid.
She explained that the products have initially been rolled out in selected service stations in Lusaka, Solwezi, Mazabuka and Choma to test the test.
“The main purpose of the project for Total is to provide affordable solar products which will improve the living standards of people who live off the grid.
“This will help to ensure that school children living in remote areas are able to do their homework at night and through solar technology which is a safer and more economic option to paraffin or candles,” said Ms. Chola.
She said that Total Zambia is bidding to be an alternative energy provider and is committed to uplifting local communities.
