Government has called for serious investment in Fishing industry to consolidate economic development of Luano District.
Luano District Commissioner Luka Mwamba says that there was need for serious investment in the Fishing industry in the area by supporting the large to medium scale commercial fishing activities.
He said that the Lunsemfwa and Mkushi Rivers offered much potential as they were endowed with lots of fish breeds.
He maintained that there was need of stable financial footing to explore the fish industry potential of the District, adding that such a development would impact positively on the local job creation for locals.
Mr. Mwamba commented observed that much of the fishing potential of this District had been under utilised as fishing activities were primarily on very small scale.
