The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) has made remarkable progress in implementing the programme of installing pre-paid water usage meters.
Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company Topsy Sikalinda confirmed to ZANIS that so far the water utility company has completed installing pre-paid meters in all houses in Luangwa, Chongwe and Kafue districts.
Mr. Sikalinda added that in Lusaka’s Kamwala South, 917 pre-paid meters have been installed while 1,080 pre-paid meters have been installed in Libala South.
He further said the exercise has already been completed in state one, two and three of Libala residential area.
He said the programme was a significant milestone in modernising, upgrading and improving the efficiency of water supply services in the province.
Mr. Sikalinda said with the new system, customers were now expected to repair all leaking pipes in their premises to avoid unnecessary water loss.
He said the pre-paid meter system was of world class and a game charger with multiple key benefits both to the customers and the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company.
The programme is part of the company’s vision of “a world class company working together to change lives and bring pride to communities through provision of water and sanitation services”.
