—Local authorities in North-western province have been urged to remain focused and effective in the collection of revenue if they are to continue delivering quality development to residents.
The call was made by North-western province Permanent Secretary, Amos Malupenga, when he addressed heads of government departments in Kabompo yesterday.
Mr Malupenga said local authorities are government at local level and each district council should remain focused and effective in generating its own income to deliver services and reduce dependence on government grants and Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The Permanent Secretary was responding to District Commissioner, Febby Manda, who thanked government for not mopping up unused 2012 CDF allocations for Kabompo East and Kabompo West because the council has no enough funds to implement development projects on its own.
And Mr Malupenga has cautioned local authorities against slow pace and shoddy work in the implementation of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects.
He said local authorities should meet expectations of the people and the PF government.
Mr Malupenga, however, commended the district administration for the clean surroundings around the administrative centre.
He also encouraged heads of government departments to remain loyal to the government of the day and continue delivering quality services to the expectations of the PF administration and people of Kabompo.
