—-Government says Zambians and opposition UPND members should begin to question Hakainde Hichilema’s fitness for political office.
Chief Government Spokesperson Mwansa Kapeya says the utterances made by opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and published in the Post edition of today ,Monday, February 10 are disappointing.
According to the Post newspaper of today, Mr Hichilema is quoted to have said he was happy to have recalled President Michael Sata from the United Kingdom.
Mr Kapeya who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister said in a statement to ZANIS this evening that Zambians and UPND members should begin to question Mr Hichilema’s fitness as a political leader following the remarks he made in the Post.
Mr Kapeya said government is happy that President Sata’’ trip to the United Kingdom has exposed Mr Hichilema’s level of understanding of the Presidents duties.
Mr Kapeya has urged Zambians to begin questioning whether UPND leader deserves to be President of a serious opposition party and later on President of this country.
He enlightened the opposition leader that when the Head of State is on leave, the President does not abandon his constitutional duties.
The Minister further said that the President continues to perform his functions despite him being on leave adding that President Sata was discharging his duties while on a working holiday.
He said in his own careless talk, Mr Hichilema misinformed the nation that President Sata had been flown to India for treatment.
Mr Kapeya charged that the UPND leader was struggling to remain credible after witnessing the return of the President.
The Information minister challenged Mr Hichilema to inform the nation how the President is recovering in India since he reported about Mr Sata being flown to India for treatment.
Mr Kapeya said the UPND leader is still recovering from the crashing 2011 defeat adding that Mr Hichilema should realise that there will only be one President at a time.
He said the earlier the UPND leader realised that President Sata is the incumbent Head of state the better it will be for the opposition Leaders’ own health.
