Government says the construction of the Chipata-Chadiza Road will help improve the livelihood in the area.
Chadiza District Commissioner Paul Phiri says the road project will alleviate livelihoods in area through job creation.
Mr. Phiri said there is a lot of interest in the project Chadiza by investors from within and outside the province.
The road project which will also link Chadiza to Katete and Chanida border will accelerate economic activities in the district.
The project part of the Link Zambia 8000 although just in its initial stage.
The District Commissioner said the unspecified number of people who have been employed by the contractor, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited now have improved incomes for the families.
Mr Phiri said the benefits of the road are far reaching because Chadiza’s economic activities will increase once the Chipata-Chadiza Road is completed because easy accessibility to the area will mean more people flocking to the district.
He said Chadiza District Council is currently overwhelmed by the high number of people wanting to acquire plots following the commencement of the road project.
Government will spend K750 million have currently slowed down due to the road design that has not yet been availed to the contractor adding that the work is likely to begin in earnest once the design is ready.
