Kafue Member of Parliament (MP) Obvious Mwaliteta has said the future of Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) was bright because of government’s vision for the firm.
Mr. Mwaliteta said government has re-capitalised NCZ to make it more viable and enable it produce ammonium nitrate to supply to the farmers in the country.
He told ZANIS that the revamping of the company has also created jobs to the local people.
Mr. Mwaliteta, who is also Central Province Minister, said government has realised the importance of the strategic firm in enhancing fertilizer production which is on high demand by the farmers.
The minister said government was impressed with the production of fertiliser in Kafue.
Last year, NCZ produced 70,000 metric tonnes of D-compound fertiliser for the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) and an additional 80,000 metric tonnes for the open market.
