Govt to carefully handle constitutional issue
Serenje, 3 February,2014, ZANIS —- Government says it will carefully handle the process of coming up with a new constitution in order to have a constitution that will stand the taste of time.
Lusaka province Minister Philip Kosamu says the Country is not in a crisis therefore the need for Government to take its time to ensure it gives Zambians a meaningful constitution.
The Minister who is also Serenje Central Constituency Member of parliament said since the current constitution is operational, there is no need for people to be desperate and start demonstrating over the constitution.
ZANIS reports that the minister said this at Chibobo in Serenje District today when he officiated at Laying of a foundation for Construction of Chibobo Secondary School by Help Ministries.
He said call by the Civil Society to push government to release new constitution are unrealistic and may plunge the country in chaos.
He said:”…Other people have hijacked the constitution and we are steadfast and we cannot just rush because we want to come up with a meaningful constitution.”
The Minister also said Government will remain committed to fulfilling the promises it made to the people during the Campaigns.
