Quality service key to tourism- Masebo
Ndola, January 17, 2014, ZANIS– Tourism and Arts Minister Sylvia Masebo
has noted that proper accommodation and quality of services offered in
hotels and lodges is important in promoting the tourism industry.
Ms Masebo has since cautioned the hotel industry to ensure that they
strive in providing services of good standard for its clients.
She observed that tourism sites can not invite tourists without having
accommodation of good standards in place.
The Minister said this in Ndola today during the meeting with the Hotel
and Catering Association of Zambia (HCAZ) held at Savoy hotel.
Ms Masebo further advised that in order for Zambia to be competitive,
there is need for the hotel industry to improve the standards
significantly at various levels.
The Minister added that improvements in service delivery such as
sanitation, health, safety and security among others are critical
aspects that need to be addressed for the development of the sector.
And Copperbelt minister Mwenya Musenge also noted that the issue of
standards was a big challenge to all hotels and lodges in the province.
Mr. Musenge said he will start visiting and inspecting hotels
and lodges in the province in order to work with them in a bid to upgrade
their standard.
He assured the Tourism Minister that the province will work hard to
ensure that the tourism industry is improved upon.
