Manyinga district residents protest over proposed school location
Manyinga, January 10, ZANIS —–Scores of people from Luansango yesterday marched to district education offices in the newly created Manyinga district to protest over the decision by authorities to locate the construction of a secondary school in Kazhinakazhi area.
The people want the school to be built in Luansango because it is a centrally placed area, while authorities and the area Member of Parliament Dan Chingimbu want the school to be constructed in Kazhinakazhi because the area has the biggest population of school going children.
The protesters who were becoming unruly were only calmed down by Manyinga District Education Board Secretary Dickson Munkoya after assurances that government has plans to construct better education facilities in the area.
Mr Munkoya told the protesters that government will soon upgrade the school in the area up to grade 9.
However, Luansango area Councillor Robertson Kasongu has pledged to petition area Memberb of Parliament Dan Chingimbu so that he can explain his development plans to the people of Luansonga.
