—–An opposition Member of Parliament (MP) has called for more coordination between the office of the District Commissioner and that of the District Council Secretary in Kabompo district in order to push development to under privileged communities.
Kabompo West MP, Ambrose Lufuma made the call during a stakeholders meeting held in the office of the District Commissioner today.
Mr Lufuma said it is saddening that the two offices seem to have been operating in isolation in the district as evidenced by none issuance of circulars to heads of government departments and parastatal bodies from the District Council or the District Commissioner to attend district council meetings in the year 2013.
He also observed that parastal bodies such as Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO), North-Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company (NWWSSC), postal services and several other government departments did not receive circulars to attend council meetings in 2013.
Mr Lufuma added that there has been no circulars to heads of government departments or parastal bodies about his tours of developmental projects in his constituency making it difficult for officers to find chance to accompany him.
He said that he should not be deliberately avoided by the two offices just because he is a member of parliament from an opposition political party, the United Party for National Development (UPND).
Mr Lufuma said instead the two offices should coordinate with each other and pave ease way for heads of government departments to be accompanying them on tours of developmental projects in order to push development to the underprivileged communities in the district.
And, in response during the same meeting, Acting District Commissioner, Hendrix Soloshi assured the parliamentarian that his concerns have been taken note of and that the government has heard his point.
