Central Province police commissioner Standwell Lungu confirmed the accident that happened on Sunday around 17:00 hours at Ndabala area along the Great North Road.
Mr Lungu said the accident involved Adam Dayo, 53, of Ndola who was driving an unregistered Land Cruiser from Mbala to Ndola with two passengers on board.
He said the driver failed to negotiate a curve due to speeding and veered off the road and overturned.
Mr Lungu said one of the passengers Hassan Ali, aged 28, of Ndola, sustained serious injuries and died on the spot while the other passenger Moalin Kerow, 36, of Mbala, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Serenje District Hospital.
Mr Lungu said the driver sustained general body pains and was taken to Ndola Central Hospital by his relatives.
He said that the motor vehicle was extensively damaged due to the impact.
