NAPSA Hurricanes and UNZA Honeys yesterday sailed through to the finals of the Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) 2013 National Basketball Championship played at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC).
Hurricanes will play the winner of last night’s semi final between defending champions UNZA Pacers and Matero Magic in the men’s finals, while Honeys have a date with the victor between the semi final match that involved women defending champions Shells and Green Buffaloes.
In the men’s first semi final, Hurricanes advanced to the finals after beating LCC Looters by 11 points in a two-game series. Yesterday’s match saw Hurricanes narrowly winning 79-78 but their Saturday night 76-66 win proved vital in securing a final slot.
Pacers were enjoying a 72-69 win heading into their final second game last night.
And Honeys put up a good display against inexperienced Napsa Breeze to win the two set matches by 43 points. The first game played on Saturday saw Honeys running out 61-41 comfortable winners and wrapped up the tie with a 73-50.
Yesterday’s match was easy sailing for Honeys who dominated from the first quarter to the last with set scores of 19-9, 40-20, 59-34 before sealing it in the fourth quarter.
By press time, Honeys were anxiously waiting to see who between Shells, who had the first game advantage of 72-69 against Buffaloes would play them in the finals that would be played in a three game series at OYDC starting on Friday.
