GOVERNMENT has employed about 490 health personnel in addition to the more than 3,000 jobs created in the sector since the Patriotic Front government came into power.
Public Service Commission Secretary Ignatius Daka says those offered jobs should collect their appointment letters from the Public Service Management Division in Lusaka from December 16 to 20.
Mr Daka announced the new appointments in a notice placed in the Zambia Daily Mail yesterday.
The employment of 488 health personnel follows an external advertisement published in October for vacant positions of health personnel under the ministry.
“All serving officers are advised to collect their letters from the offices of the provincial medical officers while the new entrants to the civil services are advised to collect their letters from the Public Service Management Division in Lusaka,” he said.
Among those that have been employed are 58 Zambia-enrolled midwifes, 134 registered enrolled nurses, 105 registered nurses, 17 registered midwifes, 26 registered nurses, 27 clinical officers-general, and 17 registered midwifes.
Others recruited are clinical officers, medical laboratory technologists, pharmacy technologists, radiographers, registered theatre nurses and registered mental health nurses.
The rest are physiotherapists, physiotherapist technologists, radio technologists, and environmental health officers.
