Pambashe Member of Parliament Ronald Chitotela has threatened to sue Auditor General Anna Chifungula if she does not within 48 hours clear him of allegations that he subjected constituency development funds to an alleged fraudulent deal when he bought a second hand Toyota Land cruiser for his constituency.
Mr Chitotela has told Q-News that he is writing to the Office of the Auditor General demanding clarification on the Matter.
Mr. Chitotela says failure to provide evidence by the Auditor General will result in a legal suite, stating that her statement has injured not only his reputation but also his family and his constituency.
Mr. Chitotela who is also Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security has questioned whether the matter is politically motivated thereby wondering why the Auditor General’s Office which is professional institution failed to verify information before taking it in the public domain.
He says he is shocked by the Auditor General’s statement that there were irregularities in procurement of ambulances.
Effort to get a comment from Mwansabombwe Member of Parliament Rogers Mwewa who has also been named in the same matter proved futile as his mobile phones went unanswered.
