Zambia’s prolific striker, Festus Mbewe, is leading the chase for the golden boot award at the on-going Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge cup.

His counterpart, Bornwell Mwape, is following him on 2 goals each together with Uganda’s forward, Emmanuel Okwi, Sudan’s Ibrahim Salah and Kenya’s Jockins Atudo.
The last ZambiaN player to win the CECAFA golden boot award was Green Buffaloes striker, Felix Katongo, who netted in a total of four goals at the 2010 CECAFA tournament which was held in Tanzania when Zambia were booted out in the quarter finals.
Meanwhile, Zambia coach, Patrice Beaumelle, said he is happy with the improvement of the team, saying the Chipolopolo boys are now getting sharper.
Beaumelle told MTN Football.com that he is looking forward to quarter final stages which he said is expected to be tough.
