Chilanga District Commissioner Edith Muwana says government is committed to fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic through the various interventions that it has put in place to reverse the spread of the disease.
Speaking at the World AIDS Day celebrations held at Parklands Secondary School in Chilanga today, Mrs Mwana noted that one of the interventions that government has put in place is making HIV/AIDS drugs available in health institutions.
And Chilanga District Medical Officer Dr. Mwila Kaunda Lembalemba explained that the HIV prevalence rate for Chilanga district has reduced from 20.1 percent to 19.8 percent.
Speaking earlier, Chilanga District Council Chairperson Simon Nsunge called for concerted efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS disease.
