In a brief statement issued by his special assistant for press and public relations George Chellah, the Head of State has thanked Masumba for the services rendered to the Government and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The decision by the president to relieve Mr Masumba of duties follows his conviction on Monday by the Lusaka Magistrate court for obtaining pecuniary advatange by false pretences.
He was yesterday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour.
Masumba erroneously obtained an accounting diploma from NIPA which he used to obtain a job at the Lusaka Business and Technical College.
Meanwhile Zambian Youths Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) has commended President Michael Sata for swiftly moving to revoke the appointment of Masumba as deputy Minister following his conviction.
ZYAFAC Executive Rickson Kanema has told QFM News that the president’s decision to act on the concerns of the civil society and Zambians at large on the need for integrity for leaders in government is commendable.
Mr Kanema says public officers are supposed to be people of integrity and not those with criminal records.
He says President Sata has shown that he has the interest of Zambians at heart by heeding to their concerns.
Mr Kanema has since appealed to other leaders in government to desist from engaging in criminal activities.
