The infrastructure would be established at Lutaba Basic School located 32 kilometres off Sesheke-Mulobezi Road and about 56 kilometres from Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta’s Mwandi Palace.
Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Mwangala Liomba said the Government was grateful to BRE and the people of Mwandi for providing the land for both accommodation and office structures in the new district.
Mr Liomba said the piece of land was sufficient for the new district administration to put up their offices and other infrastructure.
He was speaking in an interview in Mwandi on Monday after inspecting the land provided for the new district.
He said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government was in a hurry to develop the province, adding that a number of Government institutions had already made requests to establish their presence in Mwandi District.
Mwandi District Commissioner Akufuna Chabi said the identified piece of land was more central and would benefit many residents in the area. And Induna Sabukube Six, aged 81, said he was pleased with the PF Government and President Sata for declaring Mwandi as a new district.
