Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga, has appointed a new six member board for the Civil Aviation Authority.

Mr. Mukanga has told journalists in Lusaka during a media briefing that in the recent past the country has experienced problems in the aviation sector which included the blacklisting of Zambian Registered Aircraft from entering the European airspace.

Mr. Mukanga says it is from this background that government decided to segregate or transform the Department of Civil Aviation into a Semi-autonomous Authority.

He states that this is in the quest to enhance safety oversight and regulation of the Civil Aviation Sector.

Mr. Mukanga has since urged the newly appointed Board to work hard and ensure that plans and strategies are set in making sure that the operating ban of Zambian Registered Aircraft to fly into European airspace is lifted by March next year.
