The Salesians of Don Bosco is constructing and new Secondary School in Mansa, the provincial town of Luapula province of Zambia. With the funding from the German Government through Don Bosco Mondo in Bonn and other cooperation partners, the building of the new school will add value to the education project that the Society have been carrying out in the out skirt of Mansa town for more than a decade. For the past years the Salesians have been running the St. James Catholic Parish and a lively youth centre for the young people of the thickly populated Chimese and Senama compounds. The need of a good education centre was felt and the establishment of the new Secondary School has come at the right time because many young people have to travel to faraway places for education or do not go to school at all.
Don Bosco Secondary School in Mansa is now completed. The School is set to welcome the fist groups of students in January 2014.
Don Bosco Secondary School is built and managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco, a religious congregation in the Catholic Church and registered as a society in Zambia. It is situated near St. James Catholic Church, off Kabunda Road at Chimese Village of Mansa District. The school is established with the aim to empower the youth of Luapula region by providing quality education to prepare them for a good future.
Don Bosco Secondary School, Mansa (DBSS), will start in 2014 to provide formal secondary school education to the young people of Luapula Region. We impart quality education with sound human formation based on Christian principles and the Preventive System of St. John Bosco.
The institution is equipped with spacious rooms and offices and there are plans to extend the current facilities in the near future. The School is intended to be a government aided mission school to offer Social Sciences but in the future to include Natural Science and Technology Career path curricula.
VISION
To create a just and humane society through empowerment of marginalized youth.
MISSION
The primary mission of Don Bosco Secondary School is to impart quality education to underprivileged youth so that they may achieve their full human potential.

Don Bosco Secondary School is nearly completed. Most of the construction works have been done to perfection. At the moment some minor finishing works are going on like the setting up of the Science Laboratory, the fittings of notice boards, manufacturing of classrooms and office furniture and finishing touches in the sanitary building. The School is taking shape and will soon be ready to welcome students with the hope that it will provide quality education for the promotion of poor and marginalised youth in the outskirt of Mansa town and of Luapula region.
In the meantime, the process of getting the institution officially registered is slow much more we are anxiously waiting for the Government through the Ministry of Education to appoint teachers and staff who can run the school effectively.
