A Hippo has reportedly attacked a fisherman in Sikuli area of Nalolo District leaving him with serious wounds.
Area Chief Imanga (Mundia Mwangana) of Ukolo in Nalolo District of Western Province disclosed that the fisherman only identified as Nyambe was attacked yesterday while he was fishing.
This incident comes two weeks after a woman was attacked and killed by a crocodile in Namaushakende area in the same district.
Mr. Mundia Mwangana said the hippo hit Nyambe’s boat and attacked him after he fell in the water, leaving him with serious body injuries.
Mr. Mwangana has since appealed to Zambia Wild Life Authority (ZAWA) to crop the Hippos that are terrorising fishermen and people in his area.
He said people in the area are living in fear because they are about thirteen hippos at the same spot where the fisherman was attacked.
Mr. Mwangana said he has reported the Matter to Zambia Wild Life Authority (ZAWA) in Mongu and the ZAWA office has promised to make a follow up
