Brazil 2-0 Zambia
Brazil rounded off their mini-tour of East Asia with a 2-0 win over African minnows Zambia.
The Chipolopolo stood firm in the face of their illustrious opponents for long periods, and despite Neymar hitting the bar in the opening few minutes, looked happy to defend the edge of their own box for the entire first half.
Oscar broke the deadlock in the second, firing a long-range shot goalward that looped over Mweene thanks to a sizable deflection, then Dede headed home from a Neymar free kick to seal the victory.
FULLTIME!
Brazil claim a 2-0 victory over Zambia in comfortable fashion, with Oscar and Dede scoring the goals. The African side defended well for long periods, but were eventually undone by the sheer quality of their opponents.
91’—Musonda subbed on for Zambia and we’re winding down now. A routine victory for Brazil to end their East Asia tour.
87’—Beautiful play from Brazil outside the box sees Oscar break into the box but Mweene snuffs out the danger. He’s been very good today.
85’—Bernard has been sensational since coming on—who would have thought 10 minutes at the end of an exhibition was enough time to exert your authority?
Bernard dinks into the box and picks a free Oscar on the penalty spot. He curls his shot to the right corner, but Mweene makes the save!
Brazil sub!
Neymar comes off for Bernard. The Barca star has dazzled, but no goal today.
74’—Hulk is muscled off the ball as he looks to surge centrally…and he’s got to release the ball quicker. Neymar then fires goalward himself and it’s deflected for a corner.
Brazil sub!
David Luiz off, Henrique (of Palmeiras) on!
GOAL! BRAZIL DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!
Brazil win a questionable free kick through Neymar and the No. 10 takes it himself. He floats in a delicious delivery, which Dede spears home for his first international goal!
Brazil sub!
Hernanes on, Paulinho off.
Zambia make a change at right-back too—Chongo did pretty well to be fair.
61’—Brazil pushing for another and it’s relentless. Alves and Neymar causing all sorts of issues and Zambia escape.
GOAL! OSCAR OPENS THE SCORING!
A short corner goes badly wrong but Oscar picks up the pieces and his deflected long-range strike loops over Mweene and into the top corner!
56’—BIG CHANCE!
A wicked through-ball splits the Zambia defence in two and Dani Alves is one vs one with Mweene!
The goalkeeper is off his line so quickly, though, he meets Alves on the edge of the box and makes the tackle!
51’—Great pressure from Brazil eventually relieved by a Hulk offside. Super work from Oscar and Neymar in the build up.
48’—Limited influence on the game so far from Zambia as Brazil work the ball around confidently. Hulk’s on the right, Neymar back to the left and Oscar behind Jo.
45’—We’re off!
Brazil subs!
Hulk, Jo & Oscar ON
Lucas Moura, Pato & Ramires OFF
HALFTIME!
Neymar lifts a free kick into the box but it’s headed clear and that’s the half.
43’—Fine save!
Neymar drives down the left, beats his marker and sees his cross-shot bundled behind by Mweene
40’—Alves swings in what seems like his 100th cross and Pato gets across his marker to head the ball goalward. Unfortunately, it’s straight at the ‘keeper.
36’—Chongo caught a follow-through from Lucas on that shot and has been carried off the pitch for treatment on his shin. Hopefully he’s OK.
33’—Beautiful football from Brazil, as Alves picks out Pato with a cross and his knock down is blasted wide from Lucas Moura.
Lucas has gone to the left, Neymar central, Ramires right.
31’—Brazil are still calmly pushing for an opener, but they’re well aware they’re in no need to over-exert themselves. Neymar appears the most obvious threat so far.
24’—Lucas with another moment of genius, breaking through the Zambia defence, but the layoff from Pato couldn’t find him on the return.
21’—Lucas Moura chances one from way out and it flies past the post. That’s a 30-yard effort, maybe more.
18’—Oh Pato!
Neymar surges forward on the counter and squares it for Pato, but his touch is woeful and he loses the ball. Should be 1-0!
17’—First shot from Zambia! The left-back steams forward and fires goalward but Cavalieri is in place to make a stop.
14’—So close!
Beautiful buildup play from Brazil sees Ramires and Neymar play a one-two, and the former misses a one vs. one with Mweene. The ball inches wide of the post.
11’—Brazil look fantastic on the counterattack, with Neymar receiving two or three brilliant diagonals to launch transitions. He hasn’t made the most of any yet.
8’—Zambia have looked pretty handy, with Katongo looking pretty assured on the ball in the final third. They haven’t troubled Cavalieri yet, but they’re not just here to make up the numbers.
5’—Very pretty football from Brazil, knocking it around nicely with Lucas looking a livewire.
Neymar has another shot, this time it’s charged down, and Dani Alves fires a second effort over the bar!
2’—So close!
Neymar fires in the free kick and it strikes the bar via the help of the ‘keeper’s hand! Pato’s follow-up is offside!
2’—Pretty relaxed start from Brazil but the crowd livens up when Neymar gets his first touch. He’s limping already, though.
0’—Kick off!
We are underway…

We had no shot on target and we played a shitty game….those guys created chances unlike us… I would not say the outplayed us. but defending only works if you can counterattack and score….I would say we went in with no strategy….
