Green Buffaloes yesterday frustrated Zesco United’s challenge for the title when the sides played to a dull draw in the MTN Super Division Week 25 match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Zesco on 47 points, trail leaders Nkana by four points but the Kitwe side have a game in hand. Buffaloes have 37 points.
Zesco had the better of the opening half with Jackson Mwanza hitting the crossbar on 20 minutes before he watched goalkeeper Davy Kaumbwa clear his close-range shot.
Buffaloes also had a chance to kill off the match in the 89th minute but goalkeeper Lameck Nyangu denied Kennedy Chola.
The Zambia Army side had Lineker Mwikisa sent off by referee Stanley Hachiwa for allegedly punching Zesco defender Bernard Mapili in stoppage time.
