MINISTER of Labour Fackson Shamenda has assured Zambians that the Patriotic Front government is creating enough jobs for its citizens.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Mr Shamenda said the government is focused on ensuring it delivers what is set out in the PF manifesto.
Mr Shamenda said President Sata set the tone for the next fiscal year during his address to Parliament last month.
“The President’s speech to Parliament during its opening is testimony to the pronouncements that have been made so far,” he said.
Mr Shamenda appealed to people to remain steadfast in their support for the PF.
“Our people should not despair. Jobs cannot be created overnight but already, there are thousands of jobs that have been created,” the minister said.
President Sata in his address to Parliament on September 20 revealed that 316,000 jobs have been created so far.
The head of State said employment creation brings about stability in society and growth in the economy.
Mr Shamenda cited among other sectors that have created jobs as infrastructure and the creation of new districts.
Mr Shamenda also revealed that the ministry has set up a job portal website which will be unveiled to the public sometime this month.
He said the job portal will among other things inform the public of the jobs available and those that Government is creating.
