The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has called on government to respect the decision of the Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE) on the selection of the new Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba speaking people.
Speaking to QFM News, FODEP Executive Director, MacDonald Chipenzi has challenged government to state clearly their interest in the appointment of Henry Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
Mr. Chipenzi says it is not justifiable for the Patriotic Front (PF) government to continue interfering in the affairs of chiefs in the country which can be ably sorted out by the family trees.
He notes that government had earlier shown interest in Henry Sosala who they managed to dethrone as Senior Chief Mwamba, wondering why they have continued to pursue him by refusing to recognize him even after the BRE selected him as Chitimukulu.
Mr. Chipenzi has questioned what power government has in deciding who should be chief and who should not be.
