PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has warned against formation of parallel structures in the party, saying this amounts to indiscipline.
Mr Kabimba who is Justice Minister said party members should avoid forming parallel structures that were not recognised by the central committee and the party president.
He said indisciplined members were violating the party code of conduct and betrayed the party and President Michael Sata.
Mr Kabimba said this during the Ndola District PF Consultative meeting at the trade fair grounds in Ndola yesterday.
He said PF members were expected to work with elected and appointed leaders who were recognised by the central committee only and not parallel leaders.
“Parallel structures do not only breed confusion and conflicts, they can severely weaken the party and can cost elections.
“I therefore urge every one of you to work together and stop gossips and political bickering resulting from these structures.
We should work hard to achieve our political vision and goals,” he said.
He also called on the police to ensure anyone involved in political and electoral violence faced the law to deter would be offenders.
He said it was observed that some political party members were engaging in political and electoral violence for no reason.
He said it was irresponsible for a PF member to engage in violent activities as that would put people who voted for the party into question.
He said violence was threatening the peace of the country and endangered the lives of innocent citizens.
Mr Kabimba, however, urged party members to condemn any form of violence and take responsibility in addressing the act to ensure that citizens were protected.
