The Patriotic Front cadre arrested in connection with the assault of fellow party youths during a fracas at Northmead Secondary School today failed to appear before a Lusaka Magistrate Court.
Innocent Kalimisha is said to have been badly beaten by Police officers who went to apprehend him.
Kalimisha sent his sureties Benja Siwila and Elvis Simukonda to tell the court that he could not appear before the court because he was badly beaten by 18 arresting officers when he was being picked yesterday.
Magistrate Ireene Wishimanga has since adjourned the matter to 9th September 2013 for possible plea.
Kalimisha is facing five counts of assault and three counts of malicious damage to property.
Meanwhile Police today sealed off the Magistrate court complex to prevent Patriotic Front cadres who had turned up to give solidarity to Kalimisha while chanting anti Wynter Kabimba slogans.
