TWENTY people have been seriously injured after a vehicle carrying mourners and a body in a coffin collided head-on with another vehicle.
Among those injured were three police officers from Lilayi Police College and drivers of both vehicles.
The accident happened yesterday near Sandies Creations around 10:30 hours on Kafue road.
Zambia Police assistant public relations Officer Esther Katongo, who confirmed the development, said yesterday in a statement that the 20, who were seriously injured, were rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for medical attention.
Ms Katongo said the accident involved a Toyota Hilux registration number ABZ 2611 which was being driven by Geoffrey Musolo, 35, of SOS and a Toyota Hiace registration number ALK 3520 driven by Kelvin Chakamisha, 38, of Lilayi, who was driving from South to North.
The accident happened when Mr Musolo failed to keep to his lane, resulting in the vehicle colliding head-on with Mr Chakamisha’s vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction.
