A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy has died after being hit by a motor vehicle in Central Province, police acting spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed.
Mr Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday that the accident occurred on August 8, around 09:00 hours at Kabona lay-by South of Kapiri Mposhi on the Great North Road.
A Fuso Fighter, registration number ABH 4624 driven by Monde Sichilima, 46, of house number 123/18, Chawama Township in Lusaka, hit the toddler identified as Michael Chilufya of Kasempa Village who died on arrival at Kapiri Mponshi District Hospital.
The accident happened when the driver was reversing and hit into a shelter where the child was.
The driver has been arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and would appear in court soon.
The body is in Kapiri Mponshi District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
