Four-year old defiled, murdered
Mumbwa, July 19, 2013, ZANIS…Police in Mumbwa have arrested a 40 year old man of chief Kaindu for murdering a four year girl after he allegedly defiled her.
Both Central Province Commanding Officer Standwell Lungu and District Police Chief Josephat Mawere confirmed the development to ZANIS in Mumbwa today .
Police say the incident took place last Monday when Felix Kabandama of Kapekaya Village was arrested.
Provincial commanding officer Standwell Lungu said Kabandama took advantage of the toddler when her parents went to draw water from a nearby well.
Mr Lungu said Kabandama drugged the four year old into the bush and defiled her before strangling her to death and dumped the body in a ditch.
The Commanding Officer explained that the girl has been missing from home since last week on Monday and that villages who saw him drugging the child reported the matter to police where he narrated how he conducted the murder.
The body of the girl is lying in Mumbwa District Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem while the suspect is being held at Mumbwa police station.
And a 35 years pedestrian last evening died on the spot after he was hit by a Mongu bound Marcopolo bus.
Mr. Lungu named the deceased as Justin Kayama of unknown address who was hit at Nalusanga gate about 40km west of Mumbwa in the Game Management Area [GMA] around 19.00 hours as he was carrying a bag of charcoal to load in a truck.
He said Kayama whilst carrying his bag on the head ignored the oncoming Basankwa Coach service Reg. No. ABP 2263 which crushed him to death.
The bus was being driven by Jeff Kabukabu of House No. A 30 Mulambwa compound in Mongu.

In a related development a driver of a tractor also died on the spot after he was hit by a Mumbwa bound Rosa minibus.
Mr. Lungu said the incident happened at the same time in Nangoma area about 40km east of Nangoma .
He said the bus hit into the slow moving tractor which had no lights causing it to overturn killing the driver on the spot.
The body of the unnamed driver is lying in Nangoma Mission Hospital.
