—The World health Organization (WHO) has reiterated its commitment to support government’s efforts towards providing quality health services to the people.
WHO country representative, Olusegan Babaniyi, has noted that the country is currently facing a shortage of human resource for health in both rural and urban areas compounded by inequitable distribution of existing health workers.
He was speaking after touring Lusaka Appex Medical University in (LAMU) in Lusaka yesterday.
Dr Babaniyi has, however, expressed happiness that the Ministry of Health has given high priority to address the human resource crisis that the country is facing.
The World Health Organisation management also donated a Toyota Prado and books to the learning institution.
And speaking at the same occasion, Acting LAMU Vice Chancellor John Mudenda expressed happiness at the gesture.
Dr Mudenda urged tha World Health Organisation to extend its generosity to other universities that are offering medical training in the country.
