Govt. repairs damaged 24 classroom block in Kaputa District
Lusaka, July 10th, 2013, ZANIS—Parliament today heard that a total of 18 out
of 24 classroom blocks whose roofs where blown off in Kaputa district
in the period 2010 to 2013 have been repaired.
Education Deputy Minister Davies Mabumba disclosed this in the house
saying the remaining 6 classroom blocks will be repaired in due time.
Mr. Mabumba said government is in the process of scouting for K53, 637
to repair the remaining 6 classroom blocks.
And the Deputy Minister however said the budget limitation is the
contributing factor and a major challenge to immediately respond to
the emerging natural emergencies.
Mr. Mabumba further said government is working closely with the
Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to ensure that natural
emergencies are addressed in due time.
Meanwhile, Mr. Masumba has disclosed that government has embarked on a
massive education infrastructure rehabilitation programme to schools
that have been dilapidated.
He said government has put up a deliberate policy of not only to open
more schools across the country but also to ensure that they are
maintained.
Mr. Mabumba said government is currently using durable building
materials for repairs and construction of schools to ensure that they
last for a long period of time to benefit all Zambians.
