——–The Ministry of Youth and Sport in southern Province has given the Ministry of Education sports attire worth KR70,000 to be distributed to schools in province.
Southern Province Sports Coordinator, Kennedy Mubanga, said his ministry is aware that schools are cardinal in breeding the vital talents that exist in the province.
Mubanga said the sports department wants to motivate and encourage sports in the province as the schools are able to reach the grass-root for the development of sports.
He was speaking in Livingstone during the handover of the sports equipment at Hillcrest Secondary School last night.
And Southern Province Education Officer, Martin Simatende, in a speech read on his behalf by Given Mwemba, called on other line ministries in the province to emulate what the Ministry of Youth and Sport had by aiding children with sports attire.
Simatende said that donation of the sports equipment is a sign that other line ministries can do something worth to help the children’s development through sports.
And dean of head teachers in Southern Province, Francis Hafwiti, said children with special needs are also included in the sports activities.
Hafwiti added that given equal opportunity children with special needs can equally do something in terms of sport.
