Juvenile drowns, brother survives
Kalabo, Jun 24/13, ZANIS ———A 17-year-old male juvenile drowned while his 12-year-old younger survived by managing to swim to the bank of the water body when their two canoes in which each one of them was travelling capsized due strong wind in Nyengo area in Sikongo district of Western province.
A cousin of the deceased who declined to be mentioned disclosed to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Kalabo today.
Munalula Mwiya of Likuyu Village, Chief Mukubesa in Sikongo district drowned last Tuesday around 09:00 hours while his younger brother Danny, survived after the two canoes capsized due to strong winds as they were fishing in Lake Ng’wanyenge.
According to the source, when the two canoes in which Munalula and Danny were in capsized, Munalula drowned instantly without making any effort to swim for survival and disappeared just in a shot moment.
The body of Munalula was later retrieved using fishing nets last Thursday around 15:00 hours and was buried last Friday
