Youth fund is for empowerment-PS
Mongu, June 11,2013, ZANIS…Western province permanent secretary Emmanuel
Mwamba says the disbursement of youth development funds is meant to empower youths
to contribute to national development.
Mr. Mwamba stated that the youth development funds are from tax payers money aimed at
empowering vulnerable youths throughout the country.
Mr Mwamba said this in a speech read for him by deputy sermanent
secretary Namukolo Kamona in Mongu today during the launch of the disbursement of the
2013 youth development fund.
He noted that the majority of youths do not have the required
Resources and property to use as collateral in accessing loans but
that government has put measures in place to enable deserving youths
obtain the much needed funds.
The permanent secretary added that his office had received a total 120
applications from youths in nine districts wishing to access the funds while none has
been received from the other seven districts located in flood areas due to
inadequate sensitization especially in remote areas of the province.
Mr. Mwamba further added that the districts that will fail to exhaust
their allocated funds will risk losing them to others that will
need additional money to complete the projects.
He has since called on district commissioners to take advantage of
field meetings and organize youths for YDF sensitization meetings.
Western province last year received a total of KR856, 957.00 for the youth development fund
Out of which KR304,635.00 was not utilized.
