—–Government says there is nothing more important than the health of the people in the country.
Youth and Sport Minister, Chishimba Kambwili, said this at the handover of a renovated Out Patient Department (OPD) at Roan Antelope General Hospital at a cost of over KR450 000 in Luanshya today.
Mr Kambwili, who is also Roan Member of Parliament (MP), said his aim was to ensure that Roan General Hospital meets world class health standards.
Mr Kambwili said government alone cannot meet all the requirements for the health sector in the country but it needs the assistance of the business community.
He, however, warned the staff at the hospital to maintain the newly renovated OPD, saying if he found it dirty heads would roll.
He also directed the Luanshya Town Clerk to purchase a generator for the hospital using the money meant for a construction of a market in Section Nine of Roan as health provision was more important than the market.
Speaking at the same function, Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge said he was impressed with the action taken by the Kambwili family business and Gomes Haulage Limited for renovating the OPD at the hospital.
Mr Musenge said it is his prayer that all MPs could emulate what the Kambwili family had done as the gesture would not only assist the people of Luanshya but the nation as a whole.
And Roan Antelope General Hospital Superintendent, Clara Nauluta, said the hospital has 350 bed spaces and carters for a population of over 400 000 people in Luanshay, Masaiti and Mpongwe.
