ACC targets youths in graft fight
Mansa, June 4, 2013, ZANIS—— Anti Corruption Commission Director General Rosewin Wandi says youths should be empowered with values that will help them understand how to fight corruption.
Mrs Wandi says there is need to inculcate positive values of honesty and integrity in the youths if the country is to effectively combat corruption.
Mrs Wandi notes that this is because youths have a critical role to play in the fight against corruption as they are the future leaders of the country.
ZANIS reports that the Anti Corruption Commission Director said this yesterday at the opening of the 2013 Luapula Province youth festival in Mansa.
And Luapula Province Provincial Education Officer Jennifer Banda appealed to the young people to desist from all forms of examination malpractices.
Mrs Banda said this in a speech read for her by the Senior Education Standards Officer Patrick Soko.
Mrs Banda said the perpetrators of examination leakages do not only promote corruption but also destroy the education system in the country.
She added that the province was in full support of the fight against corruption and appealed to the Anti corruption Commission to extend the formation of Anti Corruption school clubs in rural areas.
The Anti Corruption Commission is holding an eight day youth festival in Mansa whose participation is drawn from schools and colleges from all parts of Luapula province.
