Kafue-based schoolgirl arrested over porn
…as sales for the pornographic video rises
By CLAVER MUTINTA
THERE is good news and bad news for a Kafue-based schoolgirl.
The good news is that a pornographic video in which she featured recently has shot her to instant fame with sales going through the roof.
The bad news, however, is that her strict parents have handed the 15-year-old to police as pornography is a crime in Zambia.
The video containing scenes of a sexual nature has gone viral, to the chagrin of her parents whom the Daily Mail cannot identify as that would automatically give away the identity of the girl who is a minor and cannot be identified under Zambian laws.
The couple decided to “turn in” the teen “porn star” after watching the video showing their daughter in intimate sexual action with a male partner.
Kafue district commissioner Grace Ngulube and police sources have confirmed the existence of the video which was shot in January and produced in April this year.
The girl, who is in grade 10 at one of the secondary schools in Kafue and a teenager who shot the video have been arrested and will appear in court today.
The man in the video, whose father is a resident of Kafue, left the country in March for America to join his mother who is working as a nurse in that country.
“The girl’s parents got wind of the video, so they started looking for it and when they found it, they were very upset with her,” Ms Ngulube said. “The girl confessed that she and her boyfriend featured in the video.”
“They took her to the police on Thursday and she was arrested and locked up. She spent a night in a police cell until Friday when she was released on police bond,” Ms Ngulube said.
Ms Ngulube said the man in the video and the teenager who shot it agreed that they would reproduce it and sell it to the public.
The girl was reportedly not aware that the video was on sale and just heard about it on the streets of Kafue. The news left a bitter taste in her mouth.
“The girl was drinking at some place and she confronted the person who shot the video. He told her that her boyfriend left instructions that he should reproduce the video and sell it,” Ms Ngulube said.
Ms Ngulube said police had earlier heard of the pornographic video’s illegal circulation and had commenced a probe long before the girl’s parents even turned the girl in.
The “hot” video, which went on sale on the open market in April in Kafue, is fetching KR8 per copy in Kafue and is expected to hit the market in Lusaka soon as demand rises.
In another development, police in Kafue have arrested a 24-year-old man for defiling a 14-year-old girl of Kafue Estates, Ms Ngulube said yesterday.
The man has been identified as Chindongo Kasalo of Kafue and the juvenile victim is a grade 10 pupil at Naboye Secondary School in Kafue.
Recently, the Zambian media feasted on a yet another pornographic story featuring Iris, the daughter of politician Michael Kaingu.
Iris was expelled from ZICAS where she was studying to be an accountant before her widely watched hard-core pornographic video went viral.
