– Government says that Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) have the ability to contribute to economic growth if provided with the right support.
Labour Commissioner Cecilia Kamanga says policy interventions such as the national employment, labour market and the national youth policy have strategies that were aimed at job creation.
She was speaking when she officially opened a workshop at the training of Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs MSMEs in Lusaka today.
Mrs. Kamanga said the MSMEs play an important role in job creation and as such, government has embarked on a number of initiatives that can benefit MSMEs.
She disclosed that among the initiatives that government has embarked is the Link Zambia 8,000 road construction and development of infrastructure in the newly created districts.
And speaking earlier, International Labour Organization (ILO) National Project Coordinator Namucana Musiwa explained the aim of the workshop was to sensitize contractors on the importance of labour laws.
Ms Musiwa has noted that there is a link between enterprise growth and labour law compliance.
She further said several contractors are not aware of the labour laws in the country.
