Two people have been confirmed dead after the boat they were in capsized on Lake Kariba.
Confirming the development to ZANIS in an interview this morning, Siavonga District Commissioner Brave Mweetwa said the incident happened yesterday around 01:00 hours when the boat carrying four Kalelezi residents capsized on the lake near Simunjala Island about 217 Km from Kalelezi village in Siavonga district.
Mr Mweetwa said two people managed to swim to safety while the other two have not been found.
The District Commissioner said the community was busy searching for the two dead bodies but with no success so far.
Mr Mweetwa named the diseased as Mathews Mulembwe, a coxswain while the name of the other is not yet known.
And a police source said the boat left Kalelezi village at night and was heading to Siavonga town when it capsized.
A police source also disclosed that the boat which is allegedly to have been fully parked, struck a piece of wood which pieced the boat leading it capsized.
