HERVE Renard who led Zambia to win the Orange CAF Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 is currently in Cairo to attend the Symposium for the analysis of the last two editions of the continent’s showpiece.
Cafonline.com spoke to the Frenchman on the margin of this event.
Renard said It’s a great opportunity for him to be in such a symposium as it is a good chance to exchange ideas and memories with African national teams’ managers.
He said it would be better to do the symposium after each edition although the time was short after switching the Cup of Nations agenda to be in odd years.
“These events help so much in spreading and developing the game across Africa. I’d like CAF to organize it on annual basis even if there were no tournaments in that year as it helps us the coaches to gather and exchange our experience together,” said Renard.
Renard said “Our team is leading the group now with a point more than Ghana the next two games are at home while Ghana has two successive away games, So let’s wait and see what happens. I hope we can win our group and qualify to the final knock out stage”.
