The Ministry of Local Government and Housing has promised to allocate one or two utilities vehicles to Kabompo district council.
Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister, Forrie Tembo made the promise when he addressed council workers in the council chamber in Kabompo last evening.
Mr Tembo’s promise was in response to welcoming remarks by Kabompo Acting District Commissioner, Febby Kilele who said that the local authority in the district has no single utility vehicle.
However, Mr Tembo urged district council managements in the province to be budgeting for utility vehicles and income generating projects such as lodges or buses when presenting their budgets to the ministry of local government and housing each year in order to broaden their revenue base since most councils have low revenue base.
He also said the ministry will this year help all newly created district councils build housing units for rent while old councils will be considered in the second phase.
