The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested a 33 – year -old business woman of Lusaka for trafficking in cocaine.
DEC Public Relations Officer Samuel Silomba says, Cynthia Phiri, 33, a business woman residing at House No. 1504 Ngwerere Road, Chelstone Lusaka has been arrested for trafficking in 63.3g of cocaine found in her house.
Mr Silomba said the suspect is believed to be a major supplier of narcotic drugs to members of the public.
This is contained in a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, the Commission in the last one week has arrested over 25 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.
Among those arrested is Pethias Makayi, 28, a peasant farmer of Kamijinji compound in Solwezi for trafficking in 410.6kg of cannabis and Mutelo Katukula, 28, a peasant farmer of Lyabangu area in Western province for trafficking in 2.2kg of cannabis.
Mr Silomba affirms that all suspects will appear in court soon.
