Bwana Mkubwa donates borehole

Ndola, May 10, ZANIS—— Bwana Mkubwa Mines of Ndola has handed over a borehole to Mushili Skills Training Center in Ndola at a cost of KR40 000.

Officiating at the handover ceremony in Ndola today, Commence Trade and Industry Minister Emmanuel Chenda who is also Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament, noted that water was among the challenges faced by the electorate in his constituency, adding that government wants to see investors who are looking beyond the corporate taxes that they are paying to government.

Mr Chenda said government wants investment in the country and further called on investors to put the people first in the communities they are operating from.

He explained that the Patriotic Front government was committed to fulfilling on its campaign promises adding that this is the reason it is working tirelessly to ensure that the living standards of people are improved in the country.

Mr Chenda said the country has seen an economic growth of 6.5 percent and that this is evidence that government wants to improve the well being of people.

He however cautioned the people of Mushili not to listen to prophets of doom who are saying the government has not fulfilled on its campaign promises as a lot of development projects are being undertaken by the government.

Mr Chenda assured Bwana Mkubwa Mines that the borehole will be maintained by the residents of Mushili as they will be charged 50 ngwee to draw water for people to have a sense of ownership.

Mr Chenda also advised the people of Mushili to guard the borehole jealously by ensuring that the borehole is well maintained.

And Technical Manager for Bwana Mkubwa Mines Scott Andrea said although the social responsibility of the Mine has shifted to North-Western province, Ndola will not be left out.
