Demolition of structures looms in Isoka
Isoka, May2 , ZANIS ——-More than eight(8) structures will be demolished in Isoka Township of Muchinga Province to pave way for the tarring of Township Roads.
Isoka constituency Area Member of Parliament Malozo Sichone disclosed this to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in an interview soon after he toured the site yesterday.
Mr Sichone said a number of structures that have been built along the road under construction will be demolished in order to create more space for the construction of a 10 kilometre- dual carriage way.
He added that the buildings that are placed wrongly will be destroyed.
Mr Sichone who is also Eastern Province Minister, said the owners of these structures will be paid 50% by the contractor while government will ensure that those to be displaced are given residential and commercial plots within the council area.
Mr Sichone disclosed that the site where the affected people will be allocated plots has already been identified.
Meanwhile,the area member of parliament is however, impressed with works done so far by the contractor, China Jincx International Cooperation.
Mr Sichone said he is impressed with the materials being used and encouraged the contractor to continue using quality materials.
He also disclosed that the plan has been redesigned to include a dual carriage way covering a stretch of 1.6 km within the Township area.
Mr Sichone said among the structures that will be demolished include houses and retail shops.
