Bandits on loose in Namwala

Namwala, May 2, ZANIS ——- Police in Namwala district have launched a man hunt on a group of bandits who attacked a villager of Butele village in Chitongo area of Chief Nalubamba’s area.

Police sources  told ZANIS in  Namwala  that Mr Raphael Shamibobo aged 55 years was attacked and shot three times on his left leg by a man who was in a  group of more than six others using a fire arm  around 20:50 hours on 27thApril 2013.

The attackers got away with two fire arms a Remington short gun serial number L559450 and a Greener short gun with unknown serial number, KR5, 500 cash and other goods all valued at KR27, 500.

Other items found on the crime scene were six empty cartilages of an AK 47 riffle.

According to investigations by Namwala Police the attackers are believed to be using an Isuzu open van whose registration number is not yet known.

Police in Namwala have since urged members of the public to be on the lookout on suspicious looking characters.

Meanwhile Namwala District Medical officer Dr Davy Kaile told ZANIS in an interview that Mr Shamibobo who was admitted at Namwala District hospital following guns shot wounds has since been discharged and will soon come for medical review.
