President Michael Sata is soon to appoint the Referendum Commission that will conduct the National Referendum on adopting the Constitution of Zambia, a source from Ministry of Justice has revealed.
The Commission will be set up at a time when the Technical Committee has finished holding the National Consultative Forum on the Draft Constitution underway in Lusaka.
According to the source, President Sata is considering appointing Supreme Court Judge Florence Mumba to chair the Referendum Commission while the other two members will be Non Governmental Organizations Coordinating Committee (NGOCC) board chairperson Beatrice Grillo and the Young African Leaders Initiative governance adviser Isaac Mwanza.
The source has applauded President Sata for considering balancing the Committee by ensuring that women and the youth become part of key drivers that will see Zambia adopt a new Constitution.
Justice Minister is said to be confident that the nominated persons would help plan fulfill the promises the PF made in its manifesto to give Zambians a new Constitution through the national referendum.
