Supervise government projects- Seyuba
Solwezi, April 16, ZANIS….Northwestern Province Permanent
Secretary Augustine Seyuba has appealed to civil servants in the
province to take keen interest in supervising developmental projects
being implemented by government in the area.
Mr Seyuba said government has continued to spend huge sums of money
for infrastructure development in different key sectors of the economy
that need close supervision to ensure quality work is done by the
contractors.
The Permanent Secretary was speaking in Solwezi today when he conducted
a random check of township roads rehabilitation works being under
taken by the local authority.
Mr Seyuba said civil servants in the province should not only sit and
enjoy the comfort of their offices but also conduct field tours to
inspect developmental projects to understand challenges people in
the communities were facing.
He observed that a lot of developmental projects in the province have
stalled and that therefore there was need to monitor all projects so as
not to allow contractors cut themselves away from government before
completing the works.
Mr Seyuba, who expressed displeasure with the state of the township
roads in Solwezi district, called for coordination between the rural
road unit, disaster management and mitigation unit, road development
agency and the local authority.
He has however commended the local authority for the
initiative to rehabilitate township road.
