Kitwe man dies in accident
Lusaka, April 15, 2013 ZANIS — A 33 year old man has died on the spot along the Mindolo Road near Kitwe Stream after the vehicle he was driving over turned.
A Sabot Volvo Truck and Trailer which was being driven by Lloyd Mateta over turned when he failed to negotiate a curve around 04:00 hours today.
The body of the driver has since been taken to Kitwe Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
This is contained in a press statement made available to ZANIS by Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Elizabeth Kanjela.
And in another development, a 25 year old man has died on the spot after sustaining injuries in an accident which took place at Tazara Fly over Bridge in central province yesterday.
The driver of the Toyota Mark Two Paul Gondwe and another passenger Victor Matimba aged 28 sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged while Davise Chansa died on the spot after sustaining fatal injuries.
The accident happened after Gondwe lost control of the motor vehicle due to inexperienced resulting in it over turning several times.
Mr. Gondwe a student at Kapili Mposh Technical Girls High School has since been charged with two counts for causing death by dangerous driving and unlicensed driving contrary to Road Traffic Rules and will appear in court soon.
The body of the deceased is lying in Kapili Mposhi district hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
In another development a 41 years old woman of Shadreck area in Matero township of Lusaka died after being hit by a Toyota corolla registration ABC 8656.
The driver Harrison Phiri of unknown house number in Matero failed to keep to his near side killing the victim identified as Joyce Phiri and injuring Vera Chipakusa aged 40 and two children aged between 1 and 2.
The driver has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to the Road Traffic Rules and will appear in court soon.
The body of the deceased is laying in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Ms Kanjela says the body of the Taxi driver recently reported to have been missing in Prechem Kabangwe area has been discovered.
She said the body of Vincent Chandhla 34 was discovered today in a decomposed state at around 08:00 hours by passersby going to collect firewood.
Ms Kanjela said the body was discovered beheaded with hands and legs tied while the head was found about two meters away from the scene of the incident.
She said a post-mortem will be conducted today at the scene since the body is in a decomposed state.
